Helping With Lucky Ewe's Move: A Morning of Cleanup in Bonnyton

12/9/2024

Today a group of us got together to help clean up Lucky Ewe's old site in Bonnyton, as they prepare for an exciting move to their new home in Stratheden! It’s the start of a new chapter for this amazing organisation, and it felt great to be part of the process.

It was my first time visiting the Bonnyton site, and even though I’d heard plenty of stories about it, being there in person gave me a real sense of how much it has meant to the charity and the community. The mission for the morning was straightforward: clear out rubbish, tidy up the area, and clean the equipment to get it all ready for the move. My personal contribution? I spent most of my time scrubbing wellies and power washing mats. Honestly, it was surprisingly satisfying!

It was so nice to connect with other volunteers and interns. As I am new to the community, hearing about how the charity has positively impacted so many lives was inspiring and made me even more excited about what’s ahead for Lucky Ewe.

On top of that, I also managed to collect a lot more wool to take home! I plan to spend some time over Christmas washing and carding it ready for Semester 2.

The move to Stratheden represents a huge opportunity for the charity to grow, reach more people, and make an even bigger difference in the community. As the old site closes its doors, it’s exciting to see Lucky Ewe are moving forward to something even bigger and better!
