A Final Celebration!

This week was the final session in our amazing workshop collaboration and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to end things. Everyone finished off bits of making from the past few weeks, we had coffee, cake, and celebrated everything we’ve shared over the past few weeks.

The workshops have been such a lovely mix of making, learning new things and connecting with others in a gentle, low-pressure space. We’ve gone through the full journey from raw fleece of Lucky Ewe’s sheep to discovering so many beautiful and varied ways of working with wool. Along the way, we’ve explored not just materials and techniques, but the well-being benefits of textiles: through the process of making, the comfort of natural fibres, and the joy that comes from collaborative and community based projects.

This final session gave us time to reflect and appreciate the process we've been through, not just creatively, but as a community. It was especially lovely to see how people who came in as strangers now feel part of something shared and supportive. These workshops weren’t just about creating work they built a space for connection, care, and collective creativity.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, whether you joined for one session or all of them, asked questions, offered help, or simply showed up. The energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm shaped the workshops just as much as the materials did. The resulting installation is something I’m so proud of, but even more so of the shared experience that brought it to life. The tactile samples we have created in the workshops will also be put together into a collective hanging tapestry, that reflects the creativity, grounding and connection that came from the making process.

Tactile Connections doesn’t end here. It’s an evolving project that continues to explore the wellbeing benefits of textiles. Through workshops, documentation, and collaboration, I hope it can continue to inspire others to explore how textiles can support wellness in shared spaces, in communities, and in everyday life.
